Other topics include trucking trends and the future of transportation, OSHA's top safety focus areas, implementing a positive workforce culture into your business, and communications on taking steps toward protecting your business and changing public perception. Additionally, the extremely successful member mingles will return again for women, Latinos, and young business leaders. On the Road NWPCA President and CEO Brent McClendon toured several member facilities in and around Missouri. These visits provide the opportunity to learn more about the industry, the key issues (regional and national), and the entrepreneurs driving our industry's success and future. Patrick Atagi, Vice President Advocacy and External Affairs, attended the Entomological Society of America (ESA) Invasive Species Tour, August 20-22. The tour was titled "Science Policy Field Tour – Invasive Species Security: Protecting Our National Health, Food Supply, and Environment." Participants included private and public-sector scientists, government representatives, science policy advocates and policymakers. Patrick then participated, and led groups during Capitol Hill visits, at the National Hardwood Federation Fly-In, September 11-13, in Washington, DC. He also served as a group facilitator at the UnitedFresh Congressional Fly-In, September 24-26th. Brad Gething, PhD, Director of Science and Technology Integration, is scheduled to present current industry perspective on ISPM 15 and exploring opportunities for scientific collaboration at the annual meeting for the International Forestry Quarantine Research Group (IFQRG) in Rome, Italy, October 1-5.
