The State of Jobs, Manufacturing & The Economy Chad Moutray is chief economist for the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), where he serves as the NAM's economic forecaster and spokesperson on economic issues. Chad will address economic conditions for manufacturers and the state of jobs. Chad has also appeared on Bloomberg, CNBC, C-SPAN, Fox Business and Fox News, among other news outlets. Trucking Trends and the Future of Transportation Bill Cassidy is a senior editor of The Journal of Commerce (JOC) for Maritime & Trade at IHS Markit. He will discuss trends in the trucking and transportation industry ranging from capacity to driver shortages, including hours of service, electronic logging devices, rising rates, and potential disruptors. Based in Washington, DC, Cassidy has been reporting on trucking since 1984, when he joined Fleet Owner magazine in New York. He has also covered logistics management and supply-chain technology, the rail and maritime industries, Congress and federal agencies. Fire Code Safety, Working Beyond Compliance Fire code safety expert, Bill Koffel, Koffel Associates, will lead a session on working beyond compliance. The session will highlight some lessons learned by facilities that experienced a fire: what practices worked and what new practices have been implemented to make them safer. There will also be a case study presented on how a facility can use a specialized "alternative approach" to achieve compliance with the new codes. Bill Koffel is president of Koffel Associates, a fire protection engineering and code consulting firm. He is recognized as an expert in the fire protection and life safety aspects of codes and standards. He remains active in the development process of industry's governing codes, standards and design guidelines, and represents NWPCA on code matters.
