palletcentral.com PalletCentral • March-April 2019 11 contribution scale, according to the study. Obama raised more money in aggregate from small donors – $56.7 million – than Romney raised overall. In 2019, Senator Bernie Sanders raised $6 million dollars in just 24 hours. That money came from 223,047 donors with an average of $27 to his campaign. What does this mean for the NWPCA "PalletPAC"? One year to date, the NWPCA PAC has raised over $45,000 from more than 63 individual donors. The number of people participating surpassed our expectations. Every contribution counts toward the greater good of the wooden packaging industry and connects the importance of the sector to the livelihood of our members. As Congress changed from a Republican controlled House to a Democratic run legislature, the challengers we face are growing. The NWPCA PAC is an added tool for this organization. We have been advocating for the industry and will continue to fight for this industry. A growing PAC takes us further and gives us more opportunities to educate members of Congress on the nuanced nature of our businesses. As we nurture those relationships with legislators, they become influential on policy decisions impacting our business and advocate against those who would like to see our products banned. This is a team effort, and we thank the NWPCA membership as truly team players. We encourage you to learn more about the NWPCA PAC, but first you need to sign a 'Prior Authorization Form' as required by law. The form does not obligate you, in any way, to donate. The form simply means we can talk to you about NWPCA PAC updates and ongoing activities. You can locate the authorization form online at palletcentral.com/palletpac. I encourage each of you to get involved, because collectively, we can make the biggest impact to advance the interests of our industry. PC Patrick Atagi, NWPCA's vice president of advocacy and external affairs, also serves as executive director of the NWPCA PAC. He may be reached at: 703-519-6104. Despite media portrayal, a PAC doesn't buy you an election or a vote. It gives you a voice. Simply put, PACs are now here to stay. –BY PATRICK ATAGI NWPCA Congressional Fly-in June 19-20, 2019 Washington, DC Join your colleagues to advocate for the industry, while networking with leaders of the NWPCA Board, senior executives and their employees.
