While we don't have good statistics that can prove these efforts have paid dividends in retention of employees, we do believe these efforts create a better lifestyle for our people. We also feel it is our duty to give back with the blessing that have been bestowed on us. ere are some very good and long- term employees who realize this and even help with younger employees as they develop. Allegheny Recycled Products – Putting Feet to Faith Submitted by Kate Matz, Regional Business Development Manager, 48forty A llegheny Recycled Products was started by Bill Biedenbach and John Cory in 1994. ese gentlemen quickly realized the value and essential nature of the pallet industry. A few years later, Bill's son Travis Matz joined the business and assisted with pallet repairs. We specialize in full service for our clients – from recycled pallets to cardboard recycling. On average we have 60+/- employees from repairmen, truck drivers, to office staff. Bill and John always had a heart for serving others from mission trips to Soles for Jesus – a non-profit that distributes shoes to the under-served in sub-Saharan Africa – as well as listening to others in their time of need. John had a conversation with another pallet facility, and he recommended Corporate Chaplains of America, a non-denominational organization that specializes in crisis counseling. We are fortunate to have an amazing Chaplain, Shawn Kirkland, on our team. With years of hiring and helping those in second chance programs, the Chaplain has helped with retention and our employees feel as though they are being valued and heard. Many of our staff are second chance individuals who may have made a bad decision and served their time in incarceration. We try to find the best in everyone and see it from all perspectives.
