Get to know Representative Blake Moore (R-UT) 1. What led you to run for Congress? I ran for Congress because I wanted to be a productive problem solver on issues that matter to Utahns. My team and I are committed to championing aspirational, pro-growth, and inclusive policies that will grow our workforce, strengthen our military, and restore our economy. As a father of four boys, I am passionate about doing my part to ensure our nation – particularly our economy – is strong and allows anyone to achieve the American Dream. 2. What policies are most helpful in promoting manufacturing and business growth in your district and across the country? As small businesses struggle to recover in the wake of the pandemic, it is imperative that the government aids small businesses in hiring and growing their operations. I recently introduced the Small Business Growth Act to help small businesses attain the equipment necessary to build their operations and support their workforce by lifting the tax deduction cap to $2 million. This will reduce tax bills for business owners working hard to purchase equipment — including farming equipment, office furniture, manufacturing tools, machinery, commercial vehicles, and more – and allow funds to go toward employee salaries, materials, and other critical business expenditures. 3. What role do small businesses like this play in the U.S. economy and northern Utah? Small businesses like Challenger Pallet and Supply are the lifeblood of our economy and provide the innovation we need to remain competitive in the global market. Before joining Congress, I consulted small businesses across Utah and saw firsthand their impact on our local workforce and national economy. We rely on bold Americans who take a chance, enter the marketplace, build capital, innovate, and share their products worldwide. I enjoyed visiting the folks at Challenger Pallet and Supply to learn more about their vision, mission, and ways they are doing their part to enhance our local economy and put Northern Utah on the map for business. 4. What can we expect from the 118th Congress? And what are your top priorities? House Republicans have made significant headway on our key priorities, including reducing energy costs, addressing crime, bolstering our military, combating illegal immigration, holding the Biden Administration accountable, and more. My team and I are laser-focused on addressing our debt and deficit crises on the House Ways and Means and Budget committees. I am also working with my Ogden-based Debt and Deficit Task Force to roll out our second round of recommendations to reduce our national debt and set the next generation up for success. 5. Fun fact about yourself? I am well known in Washington for riding a Vespa around the Capitol Hill area. My colleagues make fun of me, but they're all jealous of me when it comes time to park.
