Regarding energy efficiency – we have upgraded our fleet to more energy-efficient vehicles, regularly do emission testing on our forklifts, made upgrades to our pallet kilns to decrease the run time, and replaced old lighting systems with new energy-efficient fixtures throughout our plants and warehouse. Today our driving factors are internal; we know that to have healthy forests and provide supportable harvests for future business, we must adopt sustainable practices and work hand in hand with our suppliers. Many of our lumber suppliers are fully committed to Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) standards and procedures. Our scragg mill has many suppliers participating in Sustainable Forestry Initiatives and Managed Forest Law (MFL) programs. We have received little pressure from our customers to date. However, we know the day will come and want to be prepared to show them our sustainability efforts. We continually communicate with our customers regarding where their pallets are shipping. Outside of standard 48x40 pallets, we build a variety of custom- size pallets, and we have had success finding and recovering many of the custom sizes and providing our customers with cost-saving opportunities as we put these back in circularity. As sustainability continues to gain traction with our customers, our goal will be to educate them on the practices within the pallet industry. Internally, we will continue to eliminate waste and find opportunities within our operations to add more energy-efficient equipment and reduce our carbon footprint further.
