Located just across the border in Ontario, Canada, the company produces 2500 pallets per day in all different shapes and sizes, and then transports the products to their main customer-base, all within a 100 mile radius on both sides of the border. The wood packaging for this industry needs design and production flexibility because the parts, contents and order patterns are so different for each order and customer. "Our 505 Viking is capable of real quick turnover, making eight or nine changeovers every day is not so difficult," says Louie Calsavara, Jr., president of Windsor Pallet. "Of all the pallets produced, about 90% are stringer and 10% are block. The block pallets are starting to become a bigger item for the automotive industry now as it is needed for the overseas export side." Of the 2500 produced per day, roughly 1000 pallets are bases for boxes (either wood or corrugated) for automotive parts. A EIGHT CHANGEOVERS IN ONE DAY?
