he old company line of "Ready Now, Ship Tomorrow" just got better. If your business is touting that popular tagline, you will want to know about an emerging technology that could lead to a new trend in shipping logistics. For manufacturing companies and suppliers, just-in- time now means minutes. So gone are the days of shipping tomorrow, ship it today. At least that's what Brett Parker, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Cargomatic, Inc. told PalletCentral recently. Cargomatic is a cloud-based app that allows qualified shippers to post and offer loads online on a first-come basis to drivers. Self-Managed Customer Solutions Daniel Barcenas fully understands the challenges of identifying and managing reliable trucking with the demands of just-in-time deliveries. As Sr. Vice President of Operations at popular denim manufacturer Hudson Jeans, based outside of Los Angeles, California, Barcenas is always looking for new solutions that can help his company. Barcenas told PalletCentral why managing their transportation logistics in a new way makes business sense for them. "Our core business is jeans, but now we're seeing a big increase in smaller shipments, so flexibility is critical for us," said Barcenas. Pricing and timing were the key factors in adding Cargomatic to his logistics chain, he said. "We can have several pallets of product ready to go. Normally, I need to schedule in advance, up to 48-hours, for a pick-up."
