NWPCA attended the event on June 21st and 22nd to network and, as a UnitedFresh member, participate on the UnitedFresh Supply Chain and Logistics Committee. The committee discussed the issue of ports, the development and use of automatic trucks, robotics, sanitation transportation rules and other important industry issues. Fall Plant Tours: October 11-12, 2016 T he fall Plant Tours are scheduled for October 11-12, 2016 in Monterey, California. A Pallet Foundation Golf Tournament is being planned for the 11th, with receptions planned for both October 11th and 12th. On the 12th, join industry colleagues from around the country to tour manufacturing and processing plants, and use the time together to network and exchange ideas. Valley Pallet, Inc. a leader in pallet manufacturing and recycling serves as host for this event. Tours are also planned for a farm and processing plant to see how pallets and wood packaging are used in the transport of fresh food and produce. Mark Bar ford Joins NWPCA staff W e are excited to announce the hiring of Mark Barford, CAE, to the position of Senior Director, Business Partnerships. Mark retired this spring as Executive Director of the NHLA, and has been part of five different softwood and hardwood lumber associations, serving as CEO for three of them. Mark has spent his entire career building and expanding business partnerships for lumber manufacturers, equipment manufacturers, and affiliated industries. His experience and relationships throughout the U.S. and global forest products community will support NWPCA's strategic initiatives already underway. Mark joins our team August 1.
