INSIDE NWPCA Capitol Hill Corner Statement of Patrick Atagi, Vice President, Advocacy and E xternal Affairs for NWPCA O n November 8, 2016, over 125 million Americans took pride in exercising a fundamental American right to vote for their choice for the President of the United States, and for Members of Congress. Yes, it was a contentious and unorthodox election, but that is now behind us. Regardless of political party affiliation, the President of the United States, and the office which he holds, deserves the respect of all Americans and we look forward to working with our next President and his administration over the next four years. Congratulations to all the candidates who have committed to public service in 2017 and beyond. We encourage you to take the time today to write them a note to congratulate them on their success, while also reminding them that you and your business will be counting on them. There is an abundance of work for this industry to do in the days, weeks and years to come. As your advocate here in Washington, DC, I welcome the opportunity to work with our newly-elected leaders as we focus on key issues that impact our industry including food safety, immigration reform, workplace safety, federal forest policy, international trade and tax reform policy. I am honored to be your voice in the nation's capitol, working day-in and day-out in a bipartisan manner on a public policy agenda that serves the wooden pallet and container industry. With any new election, our industry needs to continue building strong relationships and develop new ones that are vital to our success in enacting policy initiatives that promote our ability to deliver a safe, reliable, environmentally responsible, and durable product. PRNC Hosts Congresswoman Fox x for Mill Tour We thank Pallet Resource of NC, Inc., and the Grimes family for hosting Congresswoman Virginia Foxx (NC-5th District), at their facility in Lexington, North Carolina. Congressional mill tours are important in building relationships with Members of Congress and having elected officials understand the business challenges facing the wooden pallet and container industry. NWPCA congratulates Congresswoman Foxx on her re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives and we look forward to working with her in the years to come.
