8 PalletCentral • March-April 2019 palletcentral.com INSIDE NWPCA N W P C A A N N O U N C E M E N T S A N D U P C O M I N G E V E N T S W e are excited to report that the 2019 Annual Leadership Conference (ALC) in San Diego was a tremendous success – the exhibit hall was sold out and attendance was close to 600. Our 2018 Board Chair Larry Howell of Cottondale Wood Products opened the event and thanked the industry for a fantastic year. A highlight video of 2018 accomplishments of NWPCA was shown and can be viewed at palletcentral.com. Before turning over the gavel to incoming Board Chair Jordan Piland, he congratulated outgoing board members, and welcomed new board members. The NWPCA 2019 Board is listed on page 9. NWPCA President and CEO Brent McClendon elaborated on the significant highlights of the year. McClendon also gave a forecast of the year ahead and the future direction of the organization. The strong educational program provided attendees an opportunity to learn from the best in their profession. Keynote speaker, Dr. Jackie Freiberg, inspired attended with ideas on innovation and employee engagement. With topics such as handling crises to trucking trends to tax laws to OSHA to politics to economic forecast, there was something for everyone. The NWPCA annual auction to benefit The Pallet Foundation was another success, raising over $120,000. A big and heartfelt thank you to all donors, contributors, and especially our talented auctioneer, Bill MacCauley of John Rock, for all their support.
