30 PalletCentral • May-June 2019 palletcentral.com he National Wood Pallet and Container Association, and its counterpart to the north, the Canadian Wood Pallet and Container Association, are sponsoring the Fall Plant Tours October 1-2 in Toronto. The four companies hosting the tour participants are Topax Protektive Packaging, Weston Forest Products, Pallet Management Group, and Woodbridge Pallet. "The facilities we are touring provide great examples of the innovations driving this industry," said Brent McClendon, NWPCA president and ceo. "The NWPCA and CWPCA are proud to have combined our resources and efforts to make the Fall Plant Tours a productive, informative, and inspirational event." Here are insights from and overviews of the companies to be toured. Topax Protektive Packaging Topax is a full-service protective packaging company headquartered in Concord, Ontario, on the north side of Toronto and with excellent proximity to major highways, rail lines and Pearson International Airport. The company was started in the early 1980s by Simon and Jo-Lyn Trillwood. Simon Trillwood is the company president. "Protective packaging isn't a product, it's a process," Trillwood said. "We specialize in export packaging, supply chain reusable packaging, and preservation for long-term storage." The company is housed in a 35,000 square-foot production facility. During the tour in October visitors can expect to see customers' products entering the manufacturing area for inspection, processing, measuring, and weight verification. This process may include an assessment of special product features where load plans are done and oversized transport limits are reviewed. T Spotlight on the Fall Plant Tour Hosts BUSINESS
