Industry Exposition.
NWPCA's Dr. Brad
Gething traveled to
Curitiba, Brazil, from
October 7-11 to participate
in the International Forestry Quarantine Research Group. IFQRG also supports the
International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC), which protects against the transport
of invasive species across borders. Because invasive species present a tremendous danger
to native tree populations, the regulations of ISPM 15 are strictly enforced. Gething's
participation in IFQRG is critical in NWPCA's work to continue trade, protect our
resources, and our markets.
NWPCA President and CEO Brent McClendon was in Hamburg, Germany,
from October 9-11 for the 69th FEFPEB International Congress. Brent presented
on environmental trends and the sustainability of wooden pallets to more than 260
representatives from around the globe. McClendon also participated in the Global
Wood Packaging Forum where national and regional industry associations from
Europe, China, Brazil, Malaysia, South Africa, Canada, and the USA met to discuss
common positions on issues of mutual interest, coordinate action, and advance the
global wood packaging industry.
Mark Barford, Senior Director of Business Partnerships, attended the 31st
ExpoCIHAC from October 15-19 in Mexico City. ExpoCIHAC is the leading event
in the construction industry, with over 22,000 visitors and more than 750 exhibitors.
Following the sales success of PDS at Ligna earlier this year, Mark was available to
interact with a vast network of industry in Mexico and demonstrate the Pallet Design
System™ (PDS). Our thanks to the Softwood Export Council for their invitation and
support of this trip.
