I had never cleaned a door knob like we're doing now before this," says Mike Hachtman, President and CEO, Relogistics Services, LLC, a reverse logistics pallet management company. "Wearing masks in public. I would have never predicted that I would need to order 25,000 non-surgical masks to distribute to our 850 employees across 53 locations in 15 states. Who would have thought every industry would need an infectious disease preparedness and response plan." Close to 70% of those polled had reviewed and modified their illness reporting and sick leave policies, as well as specific plans to respond to an employee suspected of having COVID-19 – which varied from putting the infected worker on quarantine to all workers on quarantine. 80% of respondents restricted employee travel during this crisis. The Workforce In any business, the biggest asset is the people that complete the work. NWPCA members are very mindful of their employees and responded with thoughtful answers to questions regarding their workforce. With liberal policies in place, most companies are reporting that their employees are showing up to work as usual. When asked, "Do you anticipate school closings will cause workforce reductions as working parents balance work and childcare needs? How will you handle this?" survey respondents said they were ready with plans to accommodate their people's needs in a variety of ways. Comments include: • We were [ready], but this issue has not degraded attendance. • We allowed employees to identify if it is an issue. All employees have worked out child care at this time. • We are over staffing in anticipation of wellness and child care needs • We have been allowing employees to take time off for child care. • We are using work at home, flexible hours, shift changes, etc. • We are offering shift flexibility and allowing Nick Wenner
