NWPCA Public Affairs:
Our Commitment to the Hill
A
s we approach the holiday season, the
public affairs team remains dedicated
to representing the industry's interests on
Capitol Hill. Jason Ortega, vice president
of public affairs, participated in two Hill
Days during Forestry Week organized
by the American Wood Council. e
goal of those Hill meetings was to build
support legislation that includes language
NWPCA members asked for during
the June Congressional Fly-In. Jason
also participated in a Congressional Hill
Day with the Small Business Legislative
Council, where he serves on the board of
directors. NWPCA Government Affairs
Committee Chair Reed Esarove, director
of new pallets at 48forty Solutions,
joined him to urge Congress to prioritize
legislation that will lessen the burden on
small businesses.
Amidst the current chaotic atmosphere
on the Hill (ref. Capitol Hill, page 12),
this is just a sample of the efforts that are
important in supporting the members of
Congress who advocate for our initiatives
and ensuring our voice is heard and
considered in the legislative process.
