Pallet C e nt ral • May -Ju ne 2 0 24 29 I started selling pallets in 1984, and in 1989, I started my company, Bo's Pallets Inc., in Adairsville, Georgia. As the company grew, I focused on automa on and data tracking so ware. This led my company to becoming an early leader in efficiency of opera ons, known in our industry as having the latest technology. In 2022, 48forty Solu ons bought my company and brought me into their company in order to help make them the industry leader in automa on. hesitant to incorporate change, remind them that it's not that they were doing anything wrong but simply that a new approach is needed moving for ward. Manufacturing professionals may think lean principles are a waste of time at f irst, but once the benef its start to materialize, their value becomes clear. • Investment Pr ice: Training, equipment modif ication, and process redesign all come with monetar y costs. W hile the initial investment may come with a heft y price tag, the price pays for itself through enhanced eff iciency, resulting in no "cost" to manufacturers in the long term. • Supplier D y na mics: In the same way internal employees may need to continuously improve, supplier dynamics do, too. Start backward to determine customer needs, then focus on matching the supply from suppliers with your customer demands. Trust The Process There's a reason that lean manufacturing spread like wildf ire and has stayed around all these years later—it works! You may not become a Toyota-grade manufacturing plant overnight, but by investing in lean principles and truly adopting the changes that come with them, you' ll reach new levels of success.
