For instance, breaking down wooden pallets is one of the most strenuous, labor-intensive jobs on the production line, but with robots designed to break those pallets down, human workers will save time, reduce injur y exposure, and be empowered to continue in these positions for longer than what the current " lifecycle" is in the industr y. Benefits Of Lean As lean becomes more integrated into the wooden pallet manufacturing process, manufacturers will see a myriad of benef its start to take shape, such as: • Enhanced Ef f icienc y : Streamlined processes and reduced waste are products of lean, and together, these items lead to a more eff icient production process. • Improved Qua lit y : Lean processes naturally lead to higher qualit y. The component of continuous improvement will ensure that high-qualit y pallets are consistently prioritized. • Cost Reduct ion: By emphasizing the elimination of waste, lean manufacturing reduces costs associated with materials, people resources, and time expenditures. • F lex ibi lit y : At the end of the day, lean principles will empower manufacturers to be f lexible, adaptable, and ready for anything. Potential Challenges If production leaders can successfully invest in the right hardware, utilize the right soft ware, employ the right processes, and train their teams well, they can start to hold employees accountable and realize the results waiting on the other side. However, as with any business process changes, challenges are inevitable. Understanding and preparing for key challenges that come with this transition will help ensure a smooth adoption of lean manufacturing: • Employee Pushback : " We've always done it this way" is the #1 enemy of improvement.
