known to have been repaired shall have the original ISPM 15 quality marks obliterated. This requirement protects the integrity of the US system in multiple ways. It protects all original producers whose marks remain on product they did not fully produce. This is extremely important in case of infestation and interception of the WPM by an importing country. If multiple marks are on the WPM it is impossible to attribute the problem to the responsible producer. In addition, preventing non-compliance is of utmost importance to protect the continued use of wooden WPM in international trade. Ongoing Discussions The American Lumber Standard Committee recently formed a Wood Packaging Material Advisory Committee (WPMAC) with NWPCA President/CEO Brent McClendon and Package Research Laboratory President Dave Dixon as co-chairs. The scope of this advisory committee is to provide a productive forum for program participants to discuss enforcement issues and provide their collective advice to the ALSC Enforcement Subcommittee regarding ALSC policies and enforcement regulations. Initial discussions are underway for a meeting of this group in the future. More details to follow, but please email Brent McClendon (brent@palletcentral.com) or Dave Dixon (ddixon@package-testing.com) if you have questions, concerns or discussion items you'd like to see discussed. Participation on the committee is open to everyone and if you want to participate please send your contact information indicating such to the ALSC office at alsc@alsc.org. Feel free to also email John McDaniel anytime you have ALSC questions (alsc@alsc.org) as he also welcomes your input.
