If you ask a question or respond to someone in the chat, always include the hashtag so everyone can be in on the conversation. • Share. Share tweets from within the chat with your network by retweeting or with comments. Let your followers know you'll be participating in a chat in advance so they know you'll be active during the time period. (They might also want to join the chat.) • Respond to people by name: Twitter Chats may move quickly, and by the time someone responds, it may not be clear who they were speaking to. It's a good idea to include their Twitter handle at the beginning of any response. • Don't be a self-promoter. Don't use someone else's tweet chat stream to market your own product or services. • Be pleasant and courteous: It goes without saying, but many people will ignore this golden rule. Don't start an argument; if you disagree, be polite in how you conduct the conversation. Blogs Another opportunity to engage and gain value is through blogs. The benefits of blogs get richer as more members engage, and we're excited to include this feature at PalletCentral.com. Blogs are a powerful way to reach out and share information. While you pull up a seat in your coffee spot to jot down ideas, or to write commentary and observations on a topic, know that you've just written a blog, then send it to NWPCA. Don't feel like you have to be a writer to submit a blog. A blog may only be a paragraph or two. NWPCA blogs allow members to connect on industry topics; it is not intended to help you solicit for sales or recruiting, and we obviously also must avoid anti-trust related concerns. The only criteria to submit a blog for approval is that you must log-in. Once logged-in, you can also subscribe to any of the blogs listed by clicking on the topic name. A few topics currently on our blog page are: • Industry Insights: General Topics • Lean Manufacturing • Mold: Tips of the Trade • Safety Practices Shared on Bandsaw Dismantlers • Social Media: Is it Worth Your Time? Read the Blogs from PalletCentral.com from the "Industry Resources" drop-down menu. Subscribe to a blog by clicking on the name of the topic where you'll see an option to subscribe. Then, manage your blog subscription (after sign-in) from the "Manage Profile" tab and scroll to the "Community" sub-header. PC Sit Back and Enjoy the Coffee We're excited about the industry conversations we have seen occurring in various social media forums. Our next new opportunity is an official industry #PalletChat. While you're enjoying your next cup of coffee, think about a topic to discuss, a pain point, or a question to pose and then send a note to Annette Ferri, Director, Communication and Education to aferri@palletcentral.com. You will win a $10 Starbucks card if we choose this subject for our next #PalletChat.
