Previously she served on the House Armed Services Committee, the House Veterans' Affairs Committee, the House Budget Committee, and the House Agricultural Committee where she chaired the Nutrition Subcommittee. NWPCA is fortunate to work with congressional champions on both sides of the aisle who are supporting efforts to address our challenges through U.S. government action. From Walorski's position on the House Ways and Means Committee, the congresswoman added that she has been pushing the current administration to resolve the softwood lumber dispute with Canada as well as supporting commonsense regulatory reforms with regards to the Endangered Species Act, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and the Department of Transportation. Walorski said she also pushes for better workforce training and innovative ways to get able-bodied workers, who are on the sidelines of the economy, back into the workforce. This is an important issue to Baumgartner who added that "what affects the pallet industry right now is the U.S. workforce. Fewer and fewer people want to be in factories and for those who are there or want to be, there needs to be more workforce training." Strong leadership, especially in NWPCA advocacy and on the Hill, is crucial. If tax reform regulation and roll-back on burdensome regulations on NWPCA priorities are any indication, Congress is getting the message. Thank you Jackie Walorski!
