INSIDE NWPCA N W P C A A N N O U N C E M E N T S A N D U P C O M I N G E V E N T S NWPCA & Expo Richmond I n May, NWPCA staff traveled to Richmond, Virginia to participate in Expo Richmond. A big part of the Expo is the traditional and very popular NWPCA Reception held at the Omni Richmond hotel. NWPCA members and staff take pride in holding the event, which is a great networking opportunity and business function. Expo organizers were pleased with the overall event, reporting great attendance with sold out booth spaces. People traveled from as far away as Mexico to meet with suppliers, network with NWPCA members, and take advantage of seeing equipment demos in person. Fire Code Compliance On May 24th, over 250 people participated in NWPCA's webinar on the revised 2018 NFPA and ICC fire codes for outdoor storage of wood pallets at manufacturing and recycling facilities. Led by fire code expert Bill Koffel and Dr. Brad Gething, the presentation provided a comprehensive understanding of the new 2018 fire codes and outlined specific steps facilities can take to comply with them. The webinar was free, and open to all NWPCA members and non-members, including fire, inspection, and government officials. NWPCA Intern Brannon Rains joined NWPCA in May as an intern for the government affairs department. Hailing from Dundee, Oregon, Brannon is currently a senior at Oregon State University studying political science and statistics with an emphasis on foreign relations, energy security, and environmental policy.
