(OR-2). As an intern for the chairman of the energy and commerce committee,
Brannon was exposed to several issues regarding energy usage and the exchange of
goods on a large scale. This background gives him a greater understanding of the wood
packaging sector, and its importance to the economy and to the environment.
On the Road
It's been a busy few months for staff, with visits to members' facilities, meetings
and conferences.
Annette Ferri, Vice President of Communications, attended Industrial Pack 2018
from April 4-5 in Atlanta, Georgia. The inaugural event featured exhibits and
presentations on the latest trends in industrial packaging.

American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) meeting in April. He also presented
to the National Institute of Packaging, Handling, and Logistics Engineers (NIPHLE)
on dielectric heating, which is a relatively new method of phytosanitary treatment in
ISPM 15. The meeting proved to be a good opportunity interface with packaging
engineers who support the Department of Defense.
Dr. Gething also visited some members' facilities including Priority Pallet, a division
of Commercial Pallet, in San Diego, California; Remmey, The Pallet Company in Beaver
Springs, Pennsylvania; Strasburg Pallet Company in Strasburg, Pennsylvania; and A & L
Wood, Inc. in Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania.
Patrick Atagi, Vice President Advocacy and Government Affairs, attended the
National Summit for the State Government Affairs Council, April 11-13, in Salt Lake
City, Utah.
