8 PalletCentral • July-August 2018 palletcentral.com INSIDE NWPCA N W P C A A N N O U N C E M E N T S A N D U P C O M I N G E V E N T S NWPCA Goes to Capitol Hill F ollowing the Board meeting in Washington, DC, NWPCA members participated in targeted advocacy activities on Capitol Hill on June 19. The morning began with guest speakers, including Tom Martin, president of the American Forest Foundation. Martin spoke about wood product partnerships and Forest in the Farm Bill Coalition (FIFB) priorities. His briefing was timely as NWPCA Board Members went to Capitol Hill later in the day. NWPCA's contract lobbying group, LobbyIT, also briefed members on the latest in Washington, DC. The Board and NWPCA's Vice President of Government Affairs Patrick Atagi met with Stacy Revels, professional staff of the House Agriculture committee. The group advocated for priority issues including ISPM 15, USDA BioPreferred, and wood energy programs and residuals. Later, the NWPCA Board, Board Chair Larry Howell, and NWPCA President/CEO Brent McClendon, had a private meeting with Congressman John Faso (NY-9th) to discuss priority issues, including the Congressman's efforts on combating invasive species. Interpal & Fall Plant Tours Registration numbers are climbing for the fall plant tours being held during Interpal 2018 from September 18-20 in Minneapolis. Attendance just broke 400 at press time! NWPCA is excited to co-host Interpal, which is a global wood packaging conference held every four years, with our partners from the north – the Canadian Wood Pallet and Container Association. This year we've combined Interpal with our fall plant tours, making this a definite must-attend event. In addition to the plant tours, there will be featured speakers, educational sessions, an expo, and of course, a lot of networking! Todd Snelgrove, author and subject- matter expert, will be the keynote speaker with a presentation, "Value Selling in Competitive Times, a Total Profit Added Approach." Snelgrove's compelling keynote will give you practical and proven strategies from his experiences in Europe and North America that will help your company fully realize the financial rewards of your value.
