NWPCA Grows PDS Usage and Membership While at Ligna F our members of the NWPCA staff manned the Pallet Design System TM booth at the Ligna 2023 held in Hanover, Germany. e show is open for five days and welcomed 80,000 visitors from 160 nations. NWPCA was one of 1,300 exhibitors displaying in 10 separate buildings and utilizing demonstration space outdoors. Traffic at the PDS space was steady and over 70 very interested companies participated in live demonstrations of PDS. In addition, staff made a presentation on the main stage at Ligna which was broadcast live and taped. Also exhibiting were several associate members of NWPCA who reported strong activity from the international pallet industry. Staff met with supplier companies of lumber, fasteners and machinery that are not current members of the association, but expressed interest in expanding into North America by becoming active and attending future functions such as Interpal and the Annual Leadership Conference. e next Ligna show will be held May 26-30, 2025, returning to Hanover, Germany. NWPCA's Brad Gething Voted in as SEC Chair N WPCA Vice President of Science & Technology, Dr. Brad Gething, has been elected as the new Chair of the esteemed Softwood Export Council (SEC). is appointment highlights Gething's exceptional expertise and dedication to the wood packaging industry. e SEC's collaboration with NWPCA has proved invaluable, enhancing the association's reach and influence across the global industry. Congratulations Brad! Fire Code Q&A Webinar: Dr. Gething and Bill Koffel Share Expertise D r. Brad Gething and fire code expert Bill Koffel from Koffel and Associates joined forces in an informative Fire Code Q&A webinar in May. e session offered valuable insights and practical guidance, covering both indoor and outdoor wood pallet storage. e webinar recording is available for members at www.palletcentral.com/webinar. Preparing for Interpal 2023: Collaborative Visits and Unprecedented International Participation C WPCA General Manager Scott Geffros and NWPCA Vice President of Operations & Events Mimi Sullivan visited with three member companies, Herwood, Interco, and LCN, to work out the tour logistics and conference planning for the October 3-5, 2023 Interpal in Montreal, QC, Canada. Interpal is a premier event in the wood packaging industry that occurs every four years and combines plant tours with educational programming. Representatives from 15 countries have already registered, and the exhibit booths are rapidly approaching sell-out status.
