exhibitors who toured some of the largest wooden pallet and lumber facilities on the east coast. It was truly an amazing week! On the first day, attendees toured PalletOne and Pallet Resource of NC. PalletOne showcased their facility in Mocksville, one of its 14 pallet manufacturing facilities. PalletOne also owns four sawsmills, and we learned they process over 200 million board feet annually. The tour wasn't just about pallets; we heard from PalletOne on employee issues such as human resources and plant safety. Pallet Resource of NC fully opened their facility to let guests walk freely and examine their operations. As David Grimes noted in his personal welcome to attendees, "We are an open facility today and make most of our products by hand; we want you to see what we do." PRNC is situated on a 22-acre site in northern Davidson County employing more than 100 people. Attendees were also treated to home cooked southern barbecue courtesy of Pallet Resource of NC Inc., staff and 'northerners' learned about red 'slaw' versus 'the other stuff.' The second day of tours included visits to Edwards Wood Products and Jordan Lumber and Supply. Edwards is vertically integrated and a change-of-pace from the recycled or new pallet only manufacturers. Edwards manufactures over 120,000 pallets per week and also produces high grade and industrial grade hardwood lumber for domestic and overseas markets at a rate of 3,000,000 board feet per week. Guests visited sawmills, kilns, and pallet facilities where they saw the latest in technology and systems to optimize production from machinery to human resources. Jeff Edwards hosted lunch on the facility grounds and addressed attendees personally. NWPCA-AHMI also toured Jordan Lumber and Supply in Mount Gilead, North Carolina, just one of its many facilities. Robert Jordan IV personally boarded each bus to tell participants about his company. Jordan Lumber was established in 1939 and is one of the largest privately-owned lumber companies in the country. They have planted more than 15 million trees on their land. There was a lot of walking as the campus is quite expansive and extensive. Pictures are worth a thousand words, so if you were unable to attend, enjoy the photos on NWPCA's Facebook Page. The meetings weren't all about plant tours and receptions.
