Fire extinguishers are inspected and serviced annually by a licensed
commercial fire inspection
company. The technician documents the
inspection/service on the tag via hole punching on the tag which indicates
the date of the inspection/service.
The contents in an average sized fire extinguisher lasts only about 40
seconds. Therefore, an extinguisher should only be used on small
incipient fires. To use the extinguisher, remember
the acronym "PASS".
P Pull the pin
A Aim the hose at the base of the fire
S Squeeze the handle
S Sweep - use a sweeping motion as the contents discharge from the
canister
