Security personnel who carry weapons should be trained in their storage, handling, and use [NFPA 730 §6.2.4.5]. Training. Security personnel should be trained in the performance of their duties. Security patrols should be conducted in accordance with the facility security plan [NFPA 730 §6.2.4.6]. A2.5.3 Material Receiving The receipt of materials should comply with this section. Commercial Receivables. [NFPA 730 §6.3.1] Shipments coming into facilities should be stopped for entry authorization and dock assignment. Shipments should be expected and have corresponding purchase orders or requisitions. Undocumented deliveries should not be accepted. Receipt of hazardous materials should be documented and tracked. Package Deliveries. [NFPA 730 §6.3.2] Packages being delivered should be inspected for evidence of tampering or damage. Any damaged or suspicious packages should be reported to the carrier. Mail. [NFPA 730 §6.3.3] Employees who handle mail should evaluate the appearance of incoming packages to determine if they fit the characteristics of mail normally received. The recipient of a letter or package should evaluate the delivery to determine if a package is from an unknown, unsolicited source. Couriers. [NFPA 730 §6.3.4] Couriers making deliveries should provide identification. Courier identification should be entered into a delivery log or attached to the item being delivered. A2.5.4 Area Designations Areas should be classified in accordance with this section. Perimeters. [NFPA 730 §7.1] The primary security perimeter should include the total area in the security plan. Secondary security perimeters within the primary security perimeter should be areas identified as either secured or unsecured.
