PalletCentral • March-April 2022 13 OUR INDUSTRY HAS STRENGTH IN NUMBERS Political action committees (PACs) impact elections. When like-minded people demon- strate their engagement in the political process, our legislators listen. As an Asso- ciation, NWPCA is prohibited from using its general treasury funds to make contribu- tions in connection with a federal election. However, we are permitted to establish a political action committee; PalletPAC is funded solely by individual and personal contributions to support candidates. PACs sponsored by corporate-based trade associations, like PalletPAC, are required by federal law to obtain a corpo- rate member company's approval before asking eligible individuals to join or inform- ing them about PAC-related activities. Visit https://www.palletcentral.com/ page/PalletPAC for more details on how you can make an impact and complete the online authorization form. WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO CONTRIBUTE? Various classes of individuals are eligible to contribute to PalletPAC. Generally, contri- butions may be made by members of the "restricted class." The restricted class consists of: • The association's executive and administrative personnel • The families of the above group • Executive and administrative employees who are employed by the NWPCA's member companies and have provided Prior Approval to be solicited for donations to this PAC. The NWPCA PAC ensures that the wood packaging industry has a voice in Washing- ton, DC. If you have any questions about PalletPAC, please contact Jason Ortega, Vice President, Public Affairs, or phone Advocacy at 703-519-6104. "E very year, the actions of the federal government grow increasingly complex and impactful on our industry. As the only national voice for the pallet industry, it is critical that our PAC is well-resourced and robust. The PAC is the most effective way to ensure that there is bipartisan support on labor and sustainability legislation from members of the House and Senate who will support the pallet industry. If you want to learn more about how to support pro-industry candidates in Washington, I encourage you to reach out to the NWPCA's public affairs team." — Reed Esarove Director of Supply Chain 48forty Solutions
