We asked some industry professionals to elaborate on ways they strive to enhance their employees' experiences to improve employee retention and engagement. It is our highest responsibility to keep our employees' best interests top of mind. I was deeply influenced by the book Everyone Matters: e Extraordinary Power of Caring for Your People Like Family by Rai Sisodia and Bob Chapman. Some examples of what we do at Fox Valley: #1 Follow the Golden Rule: Matthew 7:12 – So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them. Genuine care and appreciation for the personhood of employees and their families is paramount. Our pledge to do this must be backed up by our actions. #2 Be Good Listeners: Taking time to get to know each employee through listening to their cares and concerns. #3 Find Good People, Provide Good Pay: We are very intentional to hire high character people and pay family supporting wages. We provide +15% of their annual gross wages into a 401K plan. Our team members retire with a comfortable nest egg. #4 Offer Great Hours: 45 hours per week. No nights, no weekends. Most Friday afternoons off. #5 Provide Fun Perks: Monthly catering (pizza breaks). Monthly attendance bonuses. Verbal recognition of success. Free tickets to baseball games. Free Girl Scout cookies. Free company apparel, etc.
