PalletCentral • March-April 2022 43 A little over two years ago, I presented a research paper on the Mexican Pallet Industry in Guadalajara and met Brent McClendon, NWPCA's President/CEO for the first time. While I had spoken to Brad Gething, Vice President of Science and Technology, on the phone and had met Mark Barford, Senior Director, Business Partnerships, at a trade show in Mexico City, I knew very little about the NWPCA. Little did I know that this chance encounter was going to change my professional career. While I had the opportunity to speak at length about our Mexican members and the work that the NWPCA has undertaken in Mexico in the November-December edition of Pallet Central, the Mexican delegation at the ALC was the largest it's ever been, even though a few attendees had to cancel at the last minute. I am honored to report that the nine Mexican members in attendance unanimously voted to form the Capítulo Mexicano de la NWPCA and elected Fernando López Bello, Losifra, and María José Martínez, El Martillo, to OUTREACH • By Hilary Carr Mexican Members on the Move serve as president and vice-president. I'd be remiss if I did not thank all those present for this important meeting – El Martillo, Forestal BGA, Freedom Sourcing, Global Pallets, Kayak Packaging, Losifra, Macopisa, PSAP, and Tarimas del Valle – as we start this historic journey to represent the needs and interests of the Mexican wooden pallet and packaging industry. In the coming months I will be working hand- and-hand with Fernando and María José and look forward to sharing upcoming events (Monterrey in September) and our progress in PC.
