Chris Lasseter General Manager Summerford Pallet Co. We have probably done the same things everyone else had to do over the past couple of years. We raised our starting salary, we raised piece rates to keep up with surging demand and pricing. Our guys love t-shirts so we do several a year to create a team mentality. We also bring out a food truck on occasion for them. We do have an employee of the month program and our supervisors give $25 gift cards to someone on their team when they catch them doing something right. We call it the "caught you doing right" cards. We always seem to give attention to the wrong and not praise the right. Our team morale is as good as it has ever been. e problem is that the morale is with the guys who have been here for a long time. We just can't get others to join them and stay. Tom Gardner President Hay Creek Companies Our business involves pallets but our purpose is people. As a business, we are very focused on our mission statement: • Striving to honor God in all we do • Helping people develop • Pursuing excellence • While growing profitably Developing and caring for our people is our highest priority. We do that by following the suggestions of "His Way at Work," an organization that coaches us on how best to care for our employees. With their suggestion, we have a Caring Team, which is a select group of employees that meet a couple times a month to discuss how to care for our workers, our workers' families and our community. We also have a chaplain that is on site at our facility each week and is available to council with our employees at any time. Food is always a great way to care for people, so we have an all company meal every Wednesday. Lunch is free and we call it Lunch & Learn because Tom, the owner of Hay Creek, spends some time teaching while everyone fills up on food. We are very intentional about making Hay Creek a place people want to stay because they feel appreciated, loved and part of the family. We recognize birthdays and work anniversaries on social media, along with the fun things we do in house each month or the involvements we have in our community. When people are your purpose and your culture is a caring one, we believe employees want to stay.
